The Cocoon Septal Occluder is used in transcatheter atrial septal defect closure.  It is made of nitinol wires covered with platinum. The septal occluder is a self expandable, double disk device connected by a waist at the center of the discs.  The discs are filled with polypropylene fabric to assist in thrombogenecity.

  • Platinum coating provides superior bio-compatible properties compared to bare nitinol.

The Cocoon PFO Occluder is a percutaneous transcatheter closure device intended for the occlusion of all types of PFO’s i.e. classical as well as those with aneurysm of the septum, in patients with a history of stroke or transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) diagnosed by echo-cardiography with right to left shunting during Valsalva procedure.

The Cocoon PFO Occluder is a self expandable double disk device made from a Nitinol wire mesh coated with Platinum. The two discs are linked together by a short connecting waist allowing free motion of each disc.  In order to increase the closing ability, the discs are filled with polypropylene fabric.  The fabric is securely sewn to each disc by a polyster thread.

The Cocoon VSD occluder is a self expandable, double disc device made from Nitinol wire mesh coated with platinum.  The two discs are linked together by a connecting waist corresponding to the size of the ventricular septal defect.  In order to increase its closing ability the discs and the waist are filled with polypropylene fabric.  The polypropylene fabric is securely sewn to the wires using polyster thread.

Cocoon VSD Occluders are available in different design and waist lengths to match the types of ventricular septal defects to close – Membranous, Muscular or Aneruysm.
